UN International Project Program – June 2026

IMPORTANT INFORMATION — PROPOSAL

This document is a proposal based on the most recent UNITAR × UREKA International Project Programme, successfully delivered in April 2026. It is intended to give prospective participants, universities, and schools a clear and realistic picture of what the June 2026 edition will look like. The structure, schedule, and activities described here will be very similar to what is delivered — but some elements may be subject to adjustment / changes as advised by the UNITAR programme team prior to the final confirmed itinerary being issued.

This programme is delivered and certified by UNITAR, for any queries regarding the UN credentials, please do not hesitate to request a direct introduction to the UNITAR team.

Before any initial acceptance or enrolment, a dedicated Zoom orientation call will be organised – open to students, parents, and professors or coordinators from the universities and schools receiving this proposal. Geneva Week

Why Geneva?
Geneva is more than just a city—it’s a platform for global impact. For management students, it offers a living classroom where diplomacy meets business, science meets policy, and local culture meets global dialogue. The exposure to international organizations, innovation centres, and cultural institutions provides a holistic learning experience that prepares students for leadership in a complex and interconnected world.

During the final week, students will participate in a curated set of experiential learning activities designed to expose them to global leadership, innovation, diplomacy, and culture:

Visits to Key International Organisations:

  • Palais des Nations (UN Office at Geneva): Understand how multilateral diplomacy functions on a global scale.
  • WTO, ILO, or WIPO: Engage with institutions shaping international trade, labour standards, and intellectual property—critical areas for business and policy leaders.
  • UNITAR (United Nations Institute for Training and Research): Participate in professional development workshops, including a session on multilateral diplomacy and a dedicated UN careers briefing.

Innovation and Science Exposure:

  • CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research): Gain insight into large-scale scientific collaboration and innovation management. CERN is not only a physics lab but also a model of international project coordination and the birthplace of the World Wide Web—offering lessons in data, leadership, and cross-border innovation.

Cultural and Industry Insights:

  • Patek Philippe Museum: Explore luxury branding, heritage marketing, and the craftsmanship behind one of the world’s most prestigious watchmakers—relevant for those studying brand strategy and global consumer markets.
  • Swiss Chocolate Factory Visit: Understand the role of food innovation, Swiss manufacturing excellence, and global supply chain dynamics in a fun and delicious context.
  • Cross-border Day Trip to France: Experience the fluidity of European borders and culture, highlighting Geneva’s geographic and diplomatic uniqueness.

Interactive Learning Experiences:

  • Swiss SDG Challenge: Take part in a live innovation challenge focused on sustainable development, where students ideate and pitch real-world solutions tied to the SDGs.
  • Sessions on Multilateral Diplomacy and UN Careers: Learn directly from experts about navigating a career in international organizations, building global competencies, and engaging in diplomatic negotiation and advocacy.
