Project Title
Treatment of Industrial Water effluent using Adsorbent Material: Principles, Modelling and Design.

Environment Engineering students.
Learning Outcome
Participants will learn the fundamentals of water treatment for potable, industrial and agricultural use. And gain substantial knowledge about the adsorption technologies in wastewater, standardization of the design parameters for technology and preparation of protocols/prototypes for achieving reliable and replicable processes.

The interns will have a thorough hands-on experience of building a scalable solution designed to have a positive environmental impact.
What will be covered in 8 weeks during the project

 

Week 1 Introduction – water quality
Week 2 Different conventional methods for water treatment. Why adsorption?
Week 3 Adsorption process and activated carbon
Week 4 Synthesis of low cost adsorbent
Week 5 Characterization studies
Week 6 Evaluation of impact of parameters – Batch adsorption study
Week 7 Modelling study – Isotherm and Kinetics
Week 8 Design of single stage batch adsorber

 

Internship Format
In the virtual internship, the week would begin with live video session with the mentor / subject matter expert on the topic/s of the week. For completing the week’s tasks and assignments, the trainees will provided all the knowledge and information required, guidance on what has to be done and resources, if any. The students work (in teams) on their tasks and submit their work by the weekly deadline. They can seek any clarifications, queries, help anytime during the week if they face any difficulties..

The trainees can expect to input 40 hours of work every week..

At the end of 8 weeks, trainees will be expected to submit an internship report as the final outcome of their work.
